A RankBrasil afirma que Alex Mamed é o dono da maior coleção de videogames do Brasil. Ao todo, Mamed possui 300 consoles únicos e 56 repetidos (alguns se repetem mais de uma vez, como por exemplo o Atari 2600 de 1977, que se repete 5 vezes na coleção).
A paixão de Mamed começou no fim da década de 1980, quando seu irmão trouxe um Atari 2600 do Paraguai. Depois, Alex ganhou um Master System de seu pai – seu item favorito da coleção. A intenção de colecionar surgiu apenas depois que sua locadora de games fechou, e Mamed teve que ficar com vários aparelhos iguais. Assim, ele começou a trocar os videogames repetidos por novos, iniciando a coleção.
Mamed comprou vários consoles de amigos, e encontrou aparelhos em classificados, revistas, e até mesmo na internet. O colecionador afirma que em 2005, comprou um console através de um anúncio feito nos classificados de uma revista publicada em 1983.
– Eu liguei para ver se conseguia, tive a sorte da pessoa ainda ter o mesmo número de telefone e de não ter vendido o videogame na época. Ele queria até me dar o console, pois nem usava mais – afirmou. Hoje, Mamed busca aparelhos dentro do seu círculo de amigos, e através de leilões virtuais.
Os itens mais raros da coleção são um Adventure Vision, de 1982, e um Megaduck, de 1993. A coleção só é vista quando o paulista recebe algum convite para um evento ou uma exposição. Em outubro, ele vai expor sua coleção na Universidade Paulista (Unip).
– É muito difícil para um colecionador fazer exposições, pois fica sujeito a roubo, danificação da coleção. Meu objetivo é um dia conseguir fazer um Museu do Videogame, um lugar fixo, onde as pessoas podem ir para apreciar – afirmou.
A coleção de Mamed conta a história das sete gerações de consoles de videogame, partindo de itens como o Odyssey 300, lançado em 1972, e indo até consoles como o PS3 e o Xbox 360 com Kinect.
